Personal Reflection (5/14/21)5/14/2021 During this final quarter of DDA II, I have realized I learned a lot over the year. This part of the quarter was about cameras, scene framing, the exposure triangle, and turntable animations. During the physical camera segment, I learned about the exposure triangle and physical cameras in 3ds max. It took me a while to understand the exposure triangle on the physical camera and how it works on objects. In scene framing, I barely had any trouble understanding it which was basic scene framing to impact scenes and how they are set up with camera movements. Next was the turntable animation which included me inserting my mech and showcasing a camera revolve around the mech with a 3 point light setup. This whole segment of the quarter was the easiest and did not learn as much as I did with the other quarters and the first segment of quarter 4. 3d modeling has gotten easier for me because I had gotten used to it and learned a lot about lighting and scene framing to setup good sequences and shots.

Batman Arkham Asylum is an amazing game. This game is very fun and was satisfied when I finished it and it makes me want to replay the game. The interval between plays is about a few hours or a day and was definitely worth the money, I recommend this game. The plot is engaging and had a good plot. The characters and dialogue were well written with depth, and the gameplay was very similar and targeted towards the same market with the story. The gameplay is very linear but challenging and logical. the gameplay is integrated into the narrative and was fun. The graphics are outdated but still hold up but especially the tone it gives off. The graphics are detailed with realistic proportioned objects and characters to fit the realistic dark theme at night. The animation for everything is realistic and impressive, and the visuals of shadows are spectacular because of how dark it is with a good palette. The audio is very eerie matching the tone with mostly eerie music and creepy environmental sounds which was very appropriate causing a mood for the player. The game sounds aren't useful but gives a great effect on the gameplay and is very professional. The controls are basic but not customizable. There are not so many options for the game like audio but not graphics. The menu was user friendly, and the map is very useful including the hint system for puzzles. Violence and mild language might exclude players but has no grammar errors. The game does not have any technical errors but there's a moment in the game where it may look like it because the creators did it on purpose to throw off the gamer. I give this game 4 stars for how amazing it is but there is barely anything to do after you finish the game.
Personal Reflection (3/24/21)3/24/2021 During this second half of the quarter I learned more about texturing, lighting, renderers, and shadows. I did a few assignments about lighting and texturing, one assignment was about placing a lamp on a textured table I made and adding a light from the lightbulb inside. The light I used was the free directional. I also learned about the different lights and how to use them like the directional, skylight, omni, spot, and more. Earlier I modeled a brick wall, wooden barrel, and planks with realistic texture edited in photoshop to match realistic and similar lightings. In order for me to place the textures on the objects was to use the Unwrap UVW modifier to get a UV template. I also learned about how different renderers work and how they cooperate with different lightings and materials. These new techniques I learned were easier than learning textures and seams, but were challenging. I was turning most assignments late because of my procrastination but I caught up.
Grand Theft Auto IV also known as GTA 4 was a masterpiece game especially for a game made in 2008, I played it recently to remind me how good it was and it impressed me. The game is really fun to play and I was satisfied when the game ended because there is more activities to do and there is always something to do. The game was definitely worth my money with high replay value so I recommend it to other people. The GTA franchise is known for how good their stories are, the plot was amazing like a movie with a mind blowing climax with well written characters which each character had depth and dialogue was well written too. The storyline and gameplay were targeted toward the same market with gritty realism. The gameplay of this game is perfection, the gameplay is open and was integrated into the narrative and sometimes challenging which requires no skills but reflexes. The gameplay is mostly fun and has the most logical gameplay than any game in history. The graphics are mid but good for a game made in 2008, every color, object, person, and animation is realistic and fitting with the theme of gritty New York. All animations are smooth and logical with appropriate lighting and shadows. The music is varied, but audio overall is perfect with professional sounds in environments and characters but are not that useful. The controls are well designed but not customizable. The menu is user friendly with options to adjust settings like graphics and audio. The map is very useful with a good hint system. There are a lot of game elements that might exclude players like nudity, violence, gore, guns, inappropriate language, and use of drugs. The text is legible with good grammar depending on the context. There are no technical errors that I have experienced. This game is on my top 5 games list so I give this game 5 stars.
Personal Reflection - 2/18/212/18/2021 These past few months I have been struggling in this class, mainly concerning 3D modeling, I'm still trying to get used to it and I have been getting better at modeling. In my past assignments we worked on UVW mapping. The assignments included mapping templates onto boxes, the first assignment was mapping a regular cardboard box with the compact material editor or slate material editor, after I finished the box I had to adapt the skills I learned to make a box referencing my board game box which was monopoly. I took pictures of each side, measuring, and editing them in photoshop. The next assignment was mapping a gas tank which was the same thing but had we to model the tank using different techniques. The best assignments I've done were the drawing of a sci-fi landscape (one point perspective) and a project where we used our techniques to make art on quarantine and the virtual year of school. I am still second guessing this class but I'll keep going and learning.
Game Review - Prototype 2 (2/9/21)2/9/2021 Prototype 2 is a very fun game, when I finished playing it I was satisfied and the game had much replay value, the interval between plays is around a few hours. The game was definitely worth my money and would be proud to recommend it to others. The story and narrative was not surprising or engaging, but it was not boring, dialogue and characters were well made and written. The storyline and gameplay did target towards the same market. The gameplay is the highlight of the game which was neither too linear or too open, it integrated into the narrative being the main plot of the story, the game is easy but that's what makes it fun especially where there are no skills required, logical, and all out fun. The graphics, palette, and background were perfect for a dark toned game which fitted the games theme. All of the objects and humans were proportional including with smooth animation, natural movements, and recognizable. The audio was average, the music varied, the game sounds and environmental sounds brought appropriate effect but was not useful. The controls are customizable and simple, and the menu was user friendly. The settings like adjusting graphics and audio, hints, and the map were good, organized, and useful. The game elements that excludes players is blood, gore, and language. Text and grammar were fine with no issues which did not affect gameplay. The game has no technical errors and has never crashed. I rate this game 5 stars for how fun and open this game is.
Personal Reflection 1/13/211/13/2021 I learned a decent amount of tools and techniques on 3Ds max. I learned about parametric modeling, creating simulations, material editor, materials, maps, textures, and shaders. 3 months ago, I worked on a project called "be my neighbor" and we had to make a neighborhood including a fire hydrant, garbage cans, mail boxes, trees, and bushes. When I was making my neighborhood, I made 3 house variants and each had windows and a door. Later on down the quarter, I did half the work on the "sims project" and I learned how to use sunlight and HDRI's, I had to set the sunlight to Durham's time. I also learned how to set textures, maps, and shaders, I had to make 4 shapes with each a different map and material. Up to this point in time during 3Ds max, i'm doing decent, but i'm still not feeling or enjoying 3D design or modeling.
The game "Infamous Second Son" was very good, I was satisfied after finishing the game and makes me want to play the story again, the interval between plays are about 2 hours. The game costed 20$ which was worth it and I recommend it to others to play. The story was well made and good, the story had a good exposition, a mind blowing climax, and denouement. The story very engaging because of the depth of the characters, well written dialogue, same targeted storyline and gameplay toward the same marketing, which makes it seem like a movie. The gameplay is very fun, it had a massive effect on the story which was also challenging. The game is challenging but requires no type of skill. The game is still fun and logical even dealing with super powers. The graphics are very well done especially for a game that came out in 2015. The graphics were realistic, elements were well drawn, rendered good for a decent sized map, and every object and human were proportional for a real life style game. The backgrounds were good and appropriate including the palette. The animation in the objects and humans were smooth and very realistic. The music was decent, the music varied on situations but were not interesting but the voice overs and environmental sounds were very good, appropriate, and rarely useful. The controls are good but not customizable, the menu was user friendly and you cannot change the graphics but can adjust audio. Everything was organized, accessible, and hint system is useful for nudges. The game elements that excludes players is that this game is for playstation only and Rated Teen. The text and grammar were well with no misspelling and good grammar. There are no technical issues, so I give this game five stars.
Personal Reflection 11/20/2011/20/2020 I learned a lot about 3ds max this unit especially with surface modeling. To start our practice in surface modeling we had to make a realistic D6 Dice with smooth edges, and the different amount of circles on each side (1-6). We made a cube and converted it into a editable poly and "inseted" each side of the dice and selected edges from top to bottom and left to right on every side of the dice. We messed around with the sub division surface to add more geometry to the dice and messed with the vertices to make the circles in the dice. We added material to make it more realistic with shadows and lighting with red and white. Next we did the same thing to "mechs" which we used a reference image to compare the objects messing with the vertices of shapes to match the reference image, we also used extrude for legs and did it for both sides. We had to use 4 different poses in 4 different areas around our city and convert the rendered png "mechs" into the pictures to set up a scene. I learned a lot about surface modeling and how to make objects more realistic.
Spider Man Miles Morales is now one of my favorite games in 2020, It is the most fun game I have ever played, when I finished the game I was satisfied because it teased what was going to happen and go down in the next game, and there's free roam after so there's "no end". It has a good replay value and the interval between plays could be hours, yes it was worth my money and it is at a reasonable price for 49.99$ which is why I would recommend it to others. The plot was like a movie (like the first game) it included exposition, climax, and the others which were all executed very well. The story was very engaging with great characters with depth and well written dialogue, the gameplay and storyline were targeted against the same market. The best thing in this game was the gameplay, the gameplay was very open with the web swinging, combat, and interactions. The gameplay did integrate into the narrative, the gameplay can be challenging depending on the difficulty and there are no skills required, the gameplay is logical, set in a real environment in New York applying super hero abilities, heroes, and villains in the mix. The second best thing in this game is the visuals and graphics. The graphics style was realistic and it matched the theme, the elements and objects are what stand out with realistic movements especially when it comes in contact with something or someone and the human characters were the same thing which were also proportional and rendered well. The background, colors, and animations were colorful and smooth with great shadows and lighting applied in the right areas. The animation was smooth so the characters moved very well especially miles (the main protagonist) and were logical and realistic. The audio was perfect especially the music, it was high budget "movie" quality like the first game, the sounds are very useful and very appropriate. The controls are well designed but not customizable, the menu was user friendly, the only way to adjust graphics was on the PS5 but on both consoles (ps4 and ps5) you can adjust audio and other settings. The map and hints were very helpful because you are in a open world game needed to go to destinations. The game is rated teen that might exclude players but there is no grammar issues or text issues. The game has minor bugs because it just released last week. In conclusion I'd rate this game 5 stars and above.
